Stylistically, the Ritual Blade resembles a powerful weapon from Dark Souls 3 used by the boss Yhorm the Giant. This weapon bears the distinction of being the only weapon on this list that is new to the 2020 remake of Demon’s Souls. Anyone who purchased the Digital Deluxe Edition of the game gains access to this mighty ax through Stockpile Thomas at the Nexus at any point in the game, making it easy to get early. While its damage-dealing stats aren’t anything impressive, a weapon’s greatness is not always about raw numbers. No weapon in Demon’s Souls makes this case better than the Scraping Spear.

FromSoftware as a company has moved on from Demon’s Souls in a major way, and it didn’t have anything to do with the remake from Bluepoint. Unfortunately, despite a Demon’s Souls 2 being theoretically possible, it’s very unlikely it ever gets made due to Sony owning the Demon’s Souls IP. The original Demon’s Souls was developed by FromSoftware, but it was published by Sony exclusively for the PlayStation 3. Sony owns the Demon’s Souls IP and published the 2020 remake developed by Bluepoint Games. This creates a unique situation where Sony owns the IP, but FromSoftware owns the creative DNA (combat systems, world-building style, etc).

If you’re a veteran of the original game, remember cheesing Maneater through the fog door on the bridge? However, combat is the name of the game and if you’ve played Dark Souls or any of its sequels, you know what you’re in for. Combat is grounded and brutal, where enemies can and will fight unfairly with glee. The sense of accomplishment from finally beating a challenging foe or discovering a hidden area is immense. The blocky, near-textureless foes from the original become nightmarish abominations straight out of The Thing.

The Kilij is one of the fastest striking weapons in Demon’s Souls, acting as a Curved Sword with a surprising amount of reach when used by your character. This weapon almost acts as a prototype to katanas but with better Durability and more customization. Even when two-handed, you can easily get three or four swings of this weapon off with some of your Stamina still intact, allowing you to still dodge roll at the end of a combo. However, g28 provides the precious resource of Demon’s Souls healing, passively healing two HP per second when equipped.

The Northern Regalia, one of Demon’s Souls’ most powerful weapons, can only be obtained during NG+. Sadly, the original Demon’s Souls is locked to the PlayStation 3, but those without access to the requisite hardware can still play the 2020 Demon’s Souls remake on PS5, which is very faithful to the original’s vision. You can dispose of them first but you should know that defeating the Tower Knight without killing the archers will grant you the One Shall Fall Trophy as well. Even if you’re familiar with Dark Souls and the games that came after it, you might have missed the bus on Demon’s Souls and find yourself wondering what it’s all about–and why you should care. Demon’s Souls is set to launch on November 12th, 2020, exclusively for the PlayStation 5. Hidden in the failes of Demon’s Souls for PlayStation 5 are four still undiscovered items not appearing in the original release. Death or failure in games tends to quickly become insignificant. That’s why some developers use clever tricks to make us care more about not losing.

This will be good early on, but later down the line, players can turn this weapon into the Meat Cleaver. Faith-build players should consider grabbing the Ring of Devout Prayer to gain an extra Faith Spell Slot. Players should consider a Dexterity build when using this weapon.
